Although Americans generally share a generally universal concept of
what is meant by the word "beer", a quick trip to the supermarket reveals
that there are numerous products in the "beer aisle" that have different
tastes, textures, colors, and densities. In short, there is no single type of
beer, but a wide variety of styles and types of malt products available on the
market.
This section will examine the selections of beer available in the United
States. Ales, pilsners, bocks, weiss, stouts, alts, lagers and porters will
be displayed in clear containers so that visitors may see the variations
in the color and density of the brew. Here, visitors will learn how yeast
ferments on either the top or bottom of the vat, (depending on the strain of
yeast utilized) and other changes in the brewing process, that can produce
different types of brews.
Visual displays, including graphics, text, and video interactives will allow
visitors to explore the difference between ales, lagers, malt liquors, and
weiss biers.
